Toyo Ito receives the Honorary Prize at the 14th Porcelanosa Awards

The company, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, presented its awards at the iconic Hotel Mandarín Oriental Ritz

Last Wednesday, the Porcelanosa Group held the 14th edition of the Architecture, Interior Design and Real Estate Promotion Awards at the Hotel Mandarin Oriental Ritz, with a gala emceed by Jaime Cantizano and a dinner with a menu designed by Quique Dacosta, a Spanish chef with three Michelin Stars.

The jury, tasked with assessing the participating projects, consisted of renowned national and international professionals in the sector, such as Alejandro Bueso-Inchausti (Bueso-Inchausti & Rein Arquitectos), Malika Junaid (M●Designs Architects), Diego Escario (Cano y Escario Arquitectura), Juan Carlos Baumgartner (spAce) and Alfonso Olalquiaga (Olalquiaga Arquitectos).

During the gala, the prize for Best Design of the Future, Professional Section, was awarded to the proposal presented by Héctor García from the VOLTEO studio; the prize for Best Design of the Year was presented for the remodelling of the KOI building, carried out by Royal Metropolitan developers and the Ortiz León Arquitectos studio; the 2023 Special Award; five Honorary Mentions and one Honorary Prize.

Highlights included the presentation of the 50th anniversary Special Award, given to the Portuguese property developer Acrescentar, and the Honorary Prize, presented to the Japanese architect who received the Pritzker in 2013, Toyo Ito.

Among the attendees of the event, which was sponsored by Banco Santander in partnership with Deloitte and Seguros Catalana Occidente, were numerous personalities from the business sector, along with leading professionals from the architecture and interior design sector on the national and international scene.
