The refurbishment of the iconic Alameda Theatre to create a modern and avant-garde space in Antonio Banderas' hometown, featuring PORCELANOSA Group materials. A dream come true for the Spanish actor.
"A development that is the result of tireless work and effort to achieve what I have always dreamed of. I believe that hard work is always rewarded. No dream is impossible. It's about working hard, dreaming big and having a capacity for sacrifice". These are the foundations of the CaixaBank Teatro del Soho that Antonio Banderas describes.
Resistant materials for a great performance
Banderas' passion for theatre has been reflected in Teatro Soho CaixaBank through the vision of the architectural studio Guillem & Asociados Arquitectos. With a capacity of 840 seats, where performances can be experienced in all its emotion, the walls have been covered with the Linkfloor Roll Contract Graphite model, by L'Antic Colonial.
The large influx of people through the interiors of this artistic space requires durable materials that endure over time. Open to the exterior and with views of the city centre of Málaga, the lobby, common areas and natural stone staircases by L'Antic Colonial reflect the solidity necessary for an optimum result.
Behind the curtain
"The purest, most intimate and exciting aspects of a performance are always experienced on stage," confesses the actor and director. Natural wood (Mini Imperial 1L Nude, by L'Antic Colonial) has been used for the flooring of the seven dressing rooms and the rehearsal space of this pioneering project.
For the bathroom area, meanwhile, large format pieces with a white marble effect from XTONE have been used, with I-Smart technology from Noken for the taps and touchless urinals. Teatro Soho CaixaBank is the living image of a dynamic and ambitious theatre that brings colour, depth and continuity to the cultural-artistic explosion that is Malaga.
Since its reopening in 2019, the Teatro del Soho CaixaBank has hosted numerous prestigious events and performances, such as "A Chorus Line", "Company", and the 35th edition of the Goya Awards. Work is currently underway on the next musical, Godspell, a collaboration between Antonio Banderas and Emilio Aragón which will debut in Málaga this autumn.
