The 8th PORCELANOSA Group Awards Finalists: the Bilbao Berria Ledesma Restaurant in Completed Projects

In the heart of the Eixample (“Ensanche”) in Bilbao, full of architecture, tradition and an avant-garde spirit, you can find one of the finalist projects regarding the 8th Architecture and Interior Design Awards by PORCELANOSA Group, in the section of Completed Projects: the  Bilbao Berria Ledesma Restaurant.

It is a remodelling project of one of the premises belonging to the Bilbao Berria hostelry group, which, not only owns the iconic catering premises in numerous cities such as Barcelona, Formentera and London, but also cements its position as a reference in the gastronomic proposal in the very centre of Bilbao. It is worth highlighting the brilliance of how the most exclusive contemporary PORCELANOSA Group products and materials have been introduced in its inside, thus, being able to create an atmosphere of comfort, warmth and natural appearance in the unique tasting of the most exquisite food.

The Bilbao Berria Ledesma Restaurant, whose redesign was done by the Bilbao Verno studio, was conceived as an original interior design structure with the shape of a horseshoe. This is the reason why the movement inside the premises is fluid in any of its accesses. With the aim of achieving a cosy environment and a sense of comfort and relaxation, the stained oak Eden 1L Brown natural wood  parquet by L’Antic Colonial was the choice with regard to the floor tiles installation. A really exceptional design as well as that of quality which is combined with recovered natural stone wall tiles  in many of the rooms, thus, providing an ideal rustic touch.

Despite that stony touch, the Bilbao Berria Ledesma restaurant is surrounded by a wooden atmosphere. Mentioning the Eden 1L Brown natural wood parquet, it is worth highlighting its colour tone and finish, on an oil-basis treatment, at the expense of the use of varnishes. The format used in this project is one of 20×240 cm, which has been laid out on an impact-resistant polythene sheet which minimizes sound.

Aiming at homogenizing and providing spaces with continuity, the Verno design studio opted for the Oxford Cognac model by Porcelanosa for the bathroom flooring, a  rectified  porcelain tile with a wooden  appearance and with a colour tone which is very similar to the one of the rest of the project, but with the high resistance to water and the easy-cleaning properties that ceramic wood provides.

Because of its interior design and gastronomy, this avant-garde and at the same classical-styled restaurant has become a must see for gastronomy-lovers, right in the centre of Bilbao.
