The PORCELANOSA Group showroom in Chile picks up the Prix Versailles award for the Best Worldwide Project

The Gonzalo Mardones Arquitectos studio was awarded with this prize with which the author’s architectural work has been recognised.

The building was built in exposed concrete and it was resolved through a single material and the different space realities.

After having been awarded with the prize for the “Best Store, Exterior Mention” in the area of Central America, South America and the Caribbean last April 14th, the PORCELANOSA Group showroom in Santiago, Chile, has picked up the Prix Versailles award for the Best Worldwide Project.

At the ceremony, which took place last May 15th at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, eight international jury members took part and delivered their verdicts on the award-winning projects from different continents.

A meeting of arts and commercial architecture, where the awarded creations are “those which are the most outstanding as far as interior and exterior architecture is concerned”, which can be seen in its introduction.

Signature straight lines

The prize was given to the Chilean Gonzalo Mardones V. Arquitectos studio, which oversaw the PORCELANOSA Group showroom project in Santiago, Chile. A worldwide award which enhances the quality and modernism of their work.

Both its straight lines and the combination of symmetrical volumes create original compositions, which focus on the space functionality, enhanced  by the use of concrete or a single material with which the structures are elegantly blended with the environment. A street-level glass cabinet

The PORCELANOSA Group showroom in Santiago, Chile, opted for the building to be built below street level. The two heights are shown as large glass cabinets for the pedestrians who walk past the main façade. They are therefore blended in with the environment.

The building was built entirely with exposed concrete, and through a single material, it achieved in solving the different space realities: interiors, exteriors and intermediate spaces. In this way, the solar control strengthens an efficient building with a low energy consumption. Poetic and committed architecture.
