Riccarton House: cutting-edge architecture in New Zealand

The avant-garde architecture of the property features interiors brimming with nuances and textures

Design a modern home that makes the most of the space available using premium, high-end materials. These were the main challenges the architecture studio faced when designing the property, boasting stunning views over the ever-popular park in Christchurch (New Zealand).

This three-storey house is the work of Krush Architecture studio. The first and second floors are home to four bedrooms, a study area, and a living room opening up to the dining area and kitchen.

The living area and dining room floors are finished with Par-ker® Nobu Roble (Porcelanosa). The custom-designed dining room table pairs an XTONE® sintered stone surface with metal legs. These warm hues also tie in beautifully with the natural surroundings.

In the main bathroom, Bottega Caliza porcelain tiles (Porcelanosa) dress the floors and walls. Meanwhile, Par-ker® Nobu Roble features in the shower area. The wall-hung unit countertop and washbasins (Unique series by Krion® Lux) are finished with Krion® K · Life 1100. Tono taps and a Forma waterfall shower head by Noken complete the look.

The interior design of the guest bathroom is particularly striking. The scheme blends exotic wallpaper with Newport Hawi White decorative wall tiles by Porcelanosa. The Tono recessed mixer tap (Noken) is coupled with an oval Almond washbasin by KRION®.

A warm interior design

The house opens to the outside through a rich play on textures and nuances. This creates warm and welcoming spaces.

Relief wall tiles feature in the bathrooms, work area and entrance. They accentuate the sober, functional style of Riccarton House. The original Wood Feel natural wood mosaic (L'Antic Colonial) is outstanding.

Rich in volumes, the exterior façade features a concrete finish, achieving a striking contrast with the metallic enclosures and exterior tiles. A custom black metal soffit gives the angled roof a subtle accent.
