On Thursday 11th July, PORCELANOSA Scotland opened its Braehead showroom doors for an exclusive XTone Xperience.
Over 50 invited guests were given a sneak-peak of XTone, PORCELANOSA’s new large format porcelain with two live demonstrations from a chocolatier on both XTone kitchens (Savage Dark Nature and Porto Grey Polished). Guests from local press, interior design firms and PORCELANOSA clients were also treated to an explanation of the possibilities of the new tile format and of course Spanish canapés and drinks.

PORCELANOSA’s XTone large format porcelain slabs can be used to create sophisticated, elegant, and functional designs when it comes to countertops and tables at just 12mm thick. The new guaranteed high-performance material is made up of sintered porcelain with pure minerals that are compacted and created with the most advanced technological development – all the while featuring a stunning, avant-garde design. XTone provides a multitude of benefits, and performs better than quartz, marble, granite, and other common solid surfaces.
XTone allows both horizontal and vertical continuity so with 19 collections available in ten different tones it is the perfect solution for a kitchen countertop as it suits all decoration whether it be commercial or residential. Adding to this, it is an easily maintainable material that is highly resistant to stains, chemicals, heat and fire, thermal shock, scratching, water, and UV rays. Shocking their clients, PORCELANOSA directly demonstrated its stability to sudden temperatures on the night. The tile is ideal for contact with food as it does not release volatile organic compounds and prevents the proliferation of bacteria – a revolution in the kitchen world.
Following an aspiration of developing new materials, Urbatek, one of the eight brands within PORCELANOSA’s umbrella, launched XLIGHT, an extra-large format and minimum thickness porcelain tile. XLIGHT’s first ranges came in 3.5mm thickness, 300x100cm large format, 8kg/m2; a lighter weight and less absorption than a traditional tile. Suitable for wall cladding and a perfect choice for renovation projects due to its thickness.
Over the years, large format tiles have become very popular within the A+D community, technology has improved and customers and professionals are demanding high-quality products to fulfil their daily needs.
XTone was created to this demand and is the result of an extensive research and development process to obtain a sintered mineral compact from the purest natural materials with the most advanced technology and avant-garde design.
