PORCELANOSA Group Project: An architectural review of the white villages in Jerez de la Frontera

The architect, Pedro Reguera, makes the structure of this house lighter through the ceramic and natural collections from PORCELANOSA Group.

This project is respectful to the architectural models of the area with its multitude of dimensions and the colour white leading the way.

Extremely well-known because of its Jerez wine (it was recognised as the European wine capital in 2014) and its equestrian shows, Jerez de la Frontera should be everyone’s first stop to see the white villages in Andalusia. Furthermore, it is one of the most charming cities in the south.

Being respectful to cultural urban context, the architect ,Pedro Reguera, has built this house by following the architectural models of the area, as well as enhancing native authenticity using white structures and open rooms.

In order to achieve this, Reguera has opted for some of the Premium collections from PORCELANOSA Group, such as the Marmi China wall tile from Porcelanosa, the large-format XLight porcelain tile from Urbatek, the KrionTM mineral compact, and also the technical solutions from Butech.

The cubist heritage

The façade of this house fits the cubist style perfectly, because of the combination of volumes and the overlapping of its rectangular structures.

This architecture in motion is strengthened with the XLight  Moon White Nature from Urbatek, whose pure, clear and energic white imitates that of old houses in southern Andalusia, enhancing brightness in its interior rooms. This has all been achieved using the adhesives, joints and complements developed by Butech for cladding in façades.

This goes in line with the Marmi China and Dover Nieve wall tiles from Porcelanosa, which, in turn, are combined with the raised access flooring from Butech with the Dover Caliza ceramic collection from Porcelanosa. By bringing these two collections together, a curious contrast is created in which white and grey are the leading colours.

Hanging stairs

Inside the house, the Style laminate from L’Antic Colonial, which recreates the surface and texture of walnut through unlimited veining, has been used. The warmth provided by this collection, along with the balance of its pieces, matches with the KrionTM mineral compact, which has been used here to shape the railing of the main staircase.

The resistance, easy cleaning, thermocurving ability and imperceptible joints, have made it possible for the cantilever steps to be interconnected and their interior structure to be invisible to eye. In this way, the steps seem to be suspended and show that avant-garde style that comes with the whole house.

In the bathrooms, white also leads the way. It contrasts with the metallic finish of the sanitaryware and taps from Noken, as well as with the Shower Deck shower tray, which has the drain hidden as if it were a part of the floor itself.

This contrast is also visible with the KrionTM basins, whose low porosity and antibacterial composition not only prevent fungi and bacteria growth but also show resistance to extreme temperatures.
