Porcelanosa products used to full potential in a stunning, Japanese inspired property – as seen on Channel 4’s Grand Designs

Grand Designs, the show that inspires homeowners to challenge the conventional home build or renovation, has been filming with Chris and Kayo on their unique home in South Hertfordshire.

The design of the house was to reflect the natural environment with a traditional Japanese feel. To achieve this aesthetic the Ascot Arce range from Porcelanosa was chosen to style the bathrooms.

Using trademark natural elements and soothing tones to capture the relaxing and tranquillity of a traditional Japanese abode, Porcelanosa’s forward thinking and timeless elegance matched seamlessly with the vision of the homeowners.

Top Bathroom Designer at Porcelanosa UK, designed the master and family bathroom and three matching en-suites for the children. Before starting the initial design, the designer had the chance to visit Japan for some much needed inspiration. She learnt there that what each home displays inside should closely match that of the outside world. She commented, “This project was not only a huge adventure for me but also a very good lesson. I had the pleasure of working with Kayo, Chris’ wife, who is Japanese. She played an important role in the design process, being the main housekeeper and keeping on top of the Japanese style”

As this fascinating property is home to a large family, Porcelanosa’s products were selected not only for their natural look and feel but also for their durability and ease of maintenance. The unique house opens up to the garden through huge windows and blends into the natural world surrounding it with a green roof and the use of wood and stone throughout. Thanks to Porcelanosa the bathrooms now match the harmony that the property shares with the surrounding environment.
