In the west of Morocco, on the Atlantic coast, Casablanca can be found, the largest city in the country, which houses its most important port.
It is considered as the economic centre of Morocco, and furthermore, it is a city of great contrasts, such as: being cosmopolitan, having exoticness and being colonial, and whose population is very keen on fashion, art and all the latest trends.
It is here where one of the projects in which PORCELANOSA Grupo has participated: the tea shop, the bakery and the Villa Gapi restaurant.
This chic bistro opened in 2015. It is located in the centre of Casablanca and perfectly represents the spirit of the city, which is full of both passion and sophistication.
A 3-storey high building spread out over 950 m2, designed exclusively to provide its customers with comfort, simplicity and luxury, which together are directed at the demanding and refined public.
For its facade, this luxury catering company with nearly 20 years of experience in the Moroccan city opted for the KRION® Solid Surface compact mineral from the PORCELANOSA Group, manufactured by the firm, Systempool.
The innovative design is divided into a large number of thermoformed and twisted porcelain tiles covering the entire facade extended until they reach and then enter the establishment, evoking the packaging of a box of cakes.
The originality and symbolism of the design led the architect in charge of the project, the Moroccan, Lofti Sidirahal, to be honoured with the ‘A’ Design Award.
The adaptability of Casablanca KRION® conditions
The malleability and easy processing of the solid surface from KRION® makes this material ideal for creating all types of complex shapes, such as those that define the 8m building.
Also, this compact mineral has the perfect features for this project because, in addition to warmth, robustness and durability, this has a high resistance against unfavorable weather conditions, very suitable for such an arid climate as the Moroccan.
