The architect Franco Bernardini, in collaboration with RaffaelladelliCarri are those in charge of the majestic design of the new Spadai Hotel in Florence. It has been recently opened and in its construction, carried out by the firm ESTIA Costruzioni, the technical aesthetic quality of the PORCELANOSA Grupo materials is clearly noticeable.
As far as the construction of the hotel is concerned, a historical building located in downtown Florence has been restored by keeping the existing structures as much as possible, mainly the ceilings, and by recovering elements of significant architectural value such as wooden beams, a magnificent stone staircase and cast-iron handrails. The renacentistreminiscences are expressed by means of classical materials of Italian architecture, such as Carrara marble or the use of textiles for the wall covering; elements that are combined with contemporary materials and pieces of furniture in order to achieve a contrast effect between classicism and modernity.
With regard to the rooms, it is in the bathrooms where the products of the PORCELANOSA Group’s firms have been used, covering the walls with the Calacata Gold ceramic wall tile (by Porcelanosa), whose veining reminds us of the Carrara white marble, typical of the neoclassical tradition. On the other hand, the bathtub walls have been tiled with the Treasures Mist Shannan (1.2×2 cm) and the Treasures Mist Shannan Moon mosaics by L’Antic Colonial, providing the atmosphere with energy.
A modern touch which is complemented with the Krion® shower trays and basins, the solid surface by PORCELANOSA Group. Ahighly pleasant material meticulously chosen because of its absence of pores, anti-bacterial properties and its low maintenance.
In the communal areas of the hotel the XLight extra-large format porcelain tile from the Emotion collection by Urbatek –Emotion Bone, Bone Deco, Snow and Dark- has been used. It has been cut in vertical strips of different sizes and laid by means of a random pattern, thus providing its textured surface with a great warmth, similar to a wallpaper.
