This Valencia apartment dating back to 1928 has been brought up to date with PORCELANOSA Group Premium collections, in a project by Chiralt Arquitectos that maintains the building's original features.
Reflecting early twentieth-century architecture in which volumetric forms would be combined with plant motifs, woodwork and marble columns, residence Conde Altea in the Ensanche district of Valencia is a living example of Valencian modernism in the twenties, which turned eclectic design into a new artistic language.
Measuring 100 m2 and with a structure composed of three blocks, studio Chiralt Arquitectos have renovated the apartment using PORCELANOSA Group collections.
Inside, the architectural overhaul respects the building's original features but has removed the barriers between the various areas. The open-plan design interweaves modernist elements with simple lines and premium materials such as wood, Porcelanosa ceramics and KRION® mineral compact.
The apartment's three zones (day, night and connecting areas) are united by Nature 1L White wood from L'ac, making the most of natural light in every inch of the apartment, and set off by Sevilla White wall tiles by Porcelanosa. Black Colorstuk 0-4 by Butech has been used to highlight the ceramic tiles and tie them in with the shower cabin.
The nerve centre of the property features a glazed hallway, flooding the whole house with light. This last room comprises a hallway, living-dining room and kitchen, and forms the backbone of the overall design, with large fitted cupboards that start in the dining room and extend through to the suite's dressing room.
A continuous design which creates balance with its kitchen countertop constructed with KRION® Lux 1100 Snow White K-Life, enhancing aesthetics and hygiene throughout the area thanks to its resistance to high temperatures, imperceptible joints and zero porosity which prevents bacteria from accumulating on its surface.
The connecting area is located between the day zone and main suite: a transitional space housing the glazed hallway and a large wood block leading to the guest bathroom. This latter room features an Attica shower screen and Aro washbasins by Krion, along with Noken Round taps in black finish and a toilet and flush plate from the same brand.
The architects introduced a separate room to keep the work areas separate yet seamlessly blended together, which could serve as a study or guest room or even be transformed into a new self-contained room using the sliding door system.
Neutral tones such as white and beige link the dressing room to the night zone, comprising the master suite and en-suite bathroom with a standout Lounge Oval bath by Noken, contrasting beautifully with the Newport ceramic stone flooring and blue bathroom units. This soothing colour adds an informal feel and sense of fun to the room.
