The architect has changed the layout whilst respecting the building’s original structure, using Premium collections by the ceramics multinational.
Underpinned by the principles of practicality, creativity and comfort , architect Hector Ruiz Velázquez has converted this former Gran Vía office in Madrid into a welcoming contemporary home with Premium collections by PORCELANOSA Group.
To bring an end to the separation of spaces and achieve an infinite design , Velázquez completely transformed the original architecture using vast structures based on doors without frames, continuous wood panels and large industrial style picture windows that usher in the light from outside.
The layout of the property uses three central axes or differentiated passageways leading from the interior to the exterior facade, connecting the zones with white coverings and wood, natural oak Advance 1L Light by L’AC , flooring throughout the entrance, living and dining rooms and the five bedrooms.
With a Zen aesthetics that seek to strike a balance between city and nature through white tones and soft lighting , at the entrance to the property the slight slope gives rise to a freshwater pool with white river stones . This is a peaceful haven, reminiscent of the ancient Nasrid palaces, with striking cladding – Newport Old Beige by Porcelanosa and an age-old olive tree emerging from the water.
The delicate horizontal lines and concrete look of the collection add a sense of dynamism to the hall and enhance the light in the main entrance. The limestone hue of the cladding contrasts harmoniously with the hardwood wall opposite this mineral surface, dappled with flashes of sunlight entering from outside.
The minimalist aesthetic extends to the living and dining rooms through open iron and wood structures and white latticework that leads on to the kitchen. Differentiated from the dining room area by a large marble plinth , the kitchen champions ultra-minimalist architecture that espouses comprehensive design through limitless, natural spaces.
The master bedroom looks out to the building’s façade, whilst two white cubes lead to the bedroom and bathroom, affording privacy . This is in fact one of the most prominent rooms in the home due to its eventual circular layout and the warmth of the natural wood, 1L Light by L’AC. This space is a true haven for wellbeing, where the oval bath takes centre stage and is surrounded by two glazed areas housing a vertical shower and wall-mounted toilet respectively.
