PORCELANOSA Group Projects: Calaiaia, an avant-garde villa nestled in the heart of Valencia’s Huerta

Open-plan rooms and neutral colours accentuate the building’s minimalist design, with the latest collections from PORCELANOSA Group.

Chiralt Arquitectos studio have refurbished this three-storey space, in which natural light floods in from outside, enhancing the décor of each room.

Located in the old quarter of Massamagrell (Valencia), the villa merges minimalist interior design with the traditional architecture of the Levant.

Named Calaiaia, this three-storey residence has been refurbished by Chiralt Arquitectos studio, with some of the latest collections from PORCELANOSA Group, such as Par-ker ® ceramic parquet flooring and the XTONE sintered mineral compact from Urbatek.

Spanning 318 square metres, the property benefits from a glass ceiling, letting in the natural light and highlighting the built elements of each space.

Designed in neutral tones, each of the rooms creates a dialogue between the interior and exterior through large picture windows and flooring elements. Highlights include the Ascot Arce series from Par-ker, taking inspiration – and its name – from maple (arce in Spanish). The ceramic parquet reproduces the veins and texture of the material, whilst providing greater resistance than natural wood.

White as the predominant colour

White sets the key tone of the home. In the bathrooms, the principal covering used is Lush White Nature by XTONE (Urbatek). The sintered mineral compact reproduces the veins and smoothness of marble and combines perfectly with the Unique washbasin from Krion®.

The pure white material balances all the bathroom elements, offering resistance, easy cleaning, simple maintenance, and lightness. These features add to the NK-Logic mixer taps used on the washbasin, shower, and bath, and Essence C toilet.  All these collections are from the Noken bathroom brand from Porcelanosa, with designs based on light, geometric forms.

The house fuses past and present using original elements. This can be seen in the main beam, and the colourful ceramic tiles used on the staircase, giving meaning to the décor of the home.

A living memory of the Mediterranean Huerta.
