With one eye on the country’s indigenous past, and another on the future of architecture in Oaxaca, this 144-room hotel blends tradition and modernity with Premium collections by Porcelanosa.
Testament to its indigenous past and an example of new Mexican architecture, the Grand Fiesta Americana Oaxaca pulls much of the history of Oaxaca together in its interiors, blending materials native to the country with collections by PORCELANOSA Grupo..
This was the intention behind the work of Tres Más Dos Arquitectos studio, with an innovative design based on the use of stone that enhances natural light, with geometric forms, mosaics, hardwood furnishings, green spaces and natural textures.
With 144 bedrooms, a spa, gym, restaurants and a swimming pool, the interior design of the hotel beautifully combines traditional Oaxacan décor with the ultra-modern, with products such as Boston Stone and Teide Stone (Porcelanosa) pavimento. These two collections lend durability to the hotel’s shared zones and blend beautifully with the landscape thanks to their soft stone textured surfaces.
The same aesthetic runs through the bedrooms, where Ceppo Acero ceramic floor tiles evoking the look of granite are combined with Nordic chairs, iron pendant lighting and robust wardrobes with sliding doors that lead to the bathroom. The walls are clad in the sintered mineral compact XTONE which contrasts with the Avenue White Texture flooring, and the en-suite bathrooms feature NK One toilets by Noken, tall mixer taps and Forma washbasins by Noken.
The hotel’s public bathrooms also feature several Noken products such as Urban C back to wall toilets with infrared flush.
The hotel’s indoor swimming pool is the finest example of the fusion between Oaxacan culture and modern architecture. The natural wood sun beds and wicker chairs are the perfect complement to the grey relief tiles that balance the brown, blue and green colour palette.
