Matecaña International Airport updates its facilities with Porcelanosa

Architects Juan Carlos de León and Carlos Mauricio Giraldo opt for the Spanish multinational's ceramic floor tiles to improve passenger safety and comfort.

With a volumetric structure featuring large windows and open areas with greenery for orderly passenger traffic, Matecaña International Airport in Colombia has redesigned its main areas with ceramic tile collections by Porcelanosa.

Architects Juan Carlos de León and Carlos Mauricio Giraldo, in collaboration with Entornos Productivos Marcela Villegas and CSS Constructores SA, decided to connect the main entrance with the waiting areas and check-in halls with the Bottega collection in Acero, Caliza and Topo finishes.

The large format tiles in this series take inspiration from the colour and texture of concrete, and the composition offers excellent resistance against high traffic, blows and chemical impacts and high temperatures. Used as flooring throughout, and to tile the walls, the collection makes for safer walkways, eating areas and bathrooms, and provides a harmonious contrast with the white columns and panels supporting the building's pavilions.
