With good planning and using the right products, cleaning ceramic tiles, especially in areas like the kitchen where the most dirt accumulates, will be quick and easy.
We must clean our homes to keep them free of dirt and, consequently, avoid possible illnesses as a result of a lack of hygiene. Although every house needs to be treated differently depending on everyday use, it is recommended to clean all rooms at least once a week. Weekly maintenance will ensure that all surfaces are clean and free of bacteria, including ceramic tiles. Sometimes, these tiles require specific care to prevent their enamel layer from deteriorating prematurely due to cleaning with abrasive products.
The best way to make ceramic tiles like new again is to remove the accumulated layer of dust on the surface. Do this using a dry microfibre cloth to avoid scratching the tile. Also be sure to clean the joins between the tiles, an area often forgotten during the weekly clean and where the most dust often accumulates.
Sometimes tiles can become stained, especially in spaces more exposed to dirt such as the kitchen where residue is more likely to remain. To remove stains without scratching the enamel, use a soft nylon brush dipped in warm water. With circular movements, rub the stains until they disappear.
Gloss finishes are a perfect option for giving rooms sophistication and luminosity. But how should they be cleaned so that they do not lose this characteristic shine? You can use the following natural solution: A quarter cup of white vinegar diluted in 7 litres of water. With a soft cloth, allow the solution to work on the tile for 5 minutes. Then remove it using a clean cloth.
For deep a cleaning, you can do this once a month to make your ceramic tiles look like new. Apply the non-abrasive cleaning liquid to the enamelled or polished tiles and, before it dries completely, dampen a cloth with hot water and rub over the surface. Avoid using liquids such as bleach or calcium carbonate.
To ensure that the ceramic tile is impeccable, make sure there are no drops remaining on the surface, as they could stain the surface once dry. For better results, dry all ceramic tiles completely with a clean microfibre cloth.
Although traditional cloths and brushes are some of the best cleaning options, there are tools such as electric dusters or steamers that will save much time and effort.
