El Gordo y El Flaco restaurant, Mediterranean food with a Nordic touch

The Vimarvi architecture studio has strengthened the intimist character of this business premises with Premium collections from PORCELANOSA Grupo.

Through bright and open spaces, the interior design of this establishment coincides perfectly with the quality and exclusivity of its menu, enhancing the fusion between the company name and the consumer.

The menu in El Gordo y el Flaco restaurant (Bétera, Valencia) draws attention to this ethnic blend which is so typical in the Mediterranean area, whose groups and communities go hand in hand, which enriched the way of understanding and approaching the cuisine, the literature and the architecture.

Valencia is the perfect example of this melting pot and this restaurant, the living legacy of this cuisine  fusion. In fact, this is the very gastronomical identity of this place, whose dishes find their inspiration in typical Valencia cuisine, which comes with both a modern and cutting edge presentation.

As well as that, with an aesthetic which follows its interior design, halfway between Mediterranean style and Nordic minimalism. This has been the intentionality of Jorge Martinez Villar and Jaime Martinez Villar from the Vimarvi architecture studio. They were able to enhance this idea about the company and the client, or the space and the consumer being one.

The taste of design

With an intimate and warm decor based on the PAR-KERTM ceramic parquet, industrial lamps and wide tables with a stately home feel, all the rooms in this restaurant take on this care and sophistication which, the food also has.  Through the large windows that surround this space, all the different elements that give meaning to this very space form a part of the same chromatic arrangement.

In order to increase this privacy and personal space which diners need in order to be able to enjoy each dish, in reserved areas materials like Linkfloor Contract Cotton from L’Antic Colonial has been opted for, which give shape to the wall tiles and the floor tiles in this area; it provides the general set of the table with harmony by way of the soft grey. Abrasion-resistant, water-resistant and easy to clean; this vinyl fabric is perfect for restaurant premises because of the consistency and the lightness which the same composition has. For the terrace, the raised access flooring from Butech and the Rox Beige Anti-slip porcelain tile from Urbatek have been opted for. This favours, at the same time, the interior and exterior parts which, are interconnected with hardly any separation whatsoever.

This feeling of “feeling like we are at home” is also present in the bathrooms, which have been designed as if they were an apartment inside the very same restaurant. A structure which has the Dover wall tile from Porcelanosa, which belongs to the stone collection from STON-KERTM.

The creator’s hallmark can be seen in the Modul collection from KRIONTM PORCELANOSA Bath, as well as the Nk Concept geometrical taps and basins from Noken.
