The countdown has begun: the town lights are switched on, and Christmas adverts and Christmas carols are playing in the background all around. You can see the festive atmosphere everywhere, with lights, trees and Christmas present decorations adorning every shop window, balcony and façade. And it doesn't stop at home. We're all getting ready to bring in this Christmas with the cosiest and most original decorations. Let's take a look at some ideas for decking out your home with the most sophisticated of Christmas decorations.
Red and gold, the perfect living room colour combination
You'll be hosting a lot of Christmas celebrations in your living/dining room, whether it's Christmas Eve or the main event on Christmas Day, so you need to pay attention to every last detail. And you don't need to stop at the traditional tree, dressed in red and gold. Add some more decorations to delight your family. Add some LED lights down the sides of your living room, poinsettia, sprigs of mistletoe, wreaths, stockings, red scented candles, baskets of logs, gold leaves or natural pine cones, and your living space will be transformed into a natural and magical place to spend Christmas.
Another option would be to fill your sofa with tartan cushions, or adorn your furniture with natural or white holly garlands with gold baubles, and floral or berry centrepieces for the table.
White Christmas
Using white or silver decorations in the living or dining room is becoming more and more popular. We've seen it for some years, with Christmas trees or wreaths dotted with white to create a snow-covered effect, on everything from doors to staircases. It adds more light to your home, as you can see in this warm living room paved in Tanzania Nut parquet flooring by PORCELANOSA . The combination of wood and white works well, accented by natural or metallic fabrics, white or blue baubles and garlands with white berries. The style works well at the table too - think silver candlesticks and cutlery and a natural table centrepiece in white, brown and green for some contrast.
