The 10th PORCELANOSA Grupo Awards Finalists: elegance and manufacturing character in Forward-Looking Projects – Students

We now know the second finalist project at the 10th Architecture and Interior Design PORCELANOSA Grupo Awards, in the Forward-Looking Projects – Students-  category. It is about a modern, spacious and elegant work space, but with manufacturing touches and remains industrial architecture remains.

Presented by Beverly Galán, this work studio can be found in a single-floor urban location with a cornered-façade, where access is gained through a square. Its arrangement lies on the basis of three horizontal sections, where the common work areas are located in the section which banks on greater natural light. It is the furniture which makes this section divide into several working areas, but without compromising the overall view of the whole section.

It is the documentation room which makes the difference between the first and second sections. It is there where structural work has provided small spaces which allows for maintaining sound privacy. In this regard, in the first three, we find the meeting rooms, therefore, becoming a multipurpose space with mobile divisions gathered in the warehouse area.

With regard to the third section, the one with the most artificial light, includes the kitchen-diner, the recreational and rest area and the toilets, the area which is considered to be the most private one in the project.

The development as a whole, makes space coexistence possible, mainly thanks to the project spaciousness.

The materials

The materials and products from the PORCELANOSA Grupo allowed for work with light pieces and large-scale ones at all times, therefore, making the composition work perfectly with the space in aesthetical terms.

The material choice focused on clear looking designs and manufacturing touches, such as the cement-effect ceramic or the timeless classicism of marble. For instance, the Boston Stone series, in a cement finish and industrial style, was the choice for the whole flooring except for the meeting rooms and offices. It was in the meeting rooms where the people in charge of the project opted for the distinction of the marble effect, through the Marble Calacatta Pulido ceramic floor tile.

The marble, for its part, is also present in the mobile divisions of the meeting rooms. The lightness of the Premium Lush White XLight extra-slim porcelain by Urbatek makes the rooms impress, as well as being able to be moved, therefore, creating versatile spaces feasible for joining in a single space.

In the office rooms, for their part, in the interior horizontal and vertical faces, the same as its exterior finish, the Chester Blanco ceramic wall tile by the firm, Porcelanosa, has been installed.

With regard to the bathrooms, they stand out because of an elegant decorated geometrical-shaped covering from the PORCELANOSA Grupo, in other words, the model Prisma White by Venis. The bathroom equipment is from Noken, with the Lounge bathroom furniture pack, the Forma basin, the Irta taps and the Architect and Acro sanitaryware, among other items.

Through the building systems, Butech has also taken part in this bathroom Work Space  by offering the Pro-mate 3 decorative profiles. Anodised aluminium pieces which provide both the vertical and horizontal faces with a distinctive touch.

Last, but not least, with regard to the kitchen, comfort and a feeling of rest and relaxation have been sought after, without compromising practicality, through the Premium KRION® Titanio kitchen equipment. As far as wall tiles are concerned, the stony Skyline City Volcano by L’Antic Colonial has been combined together with the Treasures Nude Nepal Strip, having been installed as a backsplash.

This is a place of business with an area of 433m2 and 6m in height, where closed individual structures have been successfully created, therefore, allowing for a good ventilation flow throughout the premises.
