The Abascal 48 Residential Complex in the Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid, is one of the project finalist from the 10th PORCELANOSA GRUPO Architecture and Interior Design Awards, in the Completed Projects category. A Premium project, which has been carried out by Julio Touza and his Touza Arquitectos studio, in which he projects a comprehensive refurbishment of a 19th century building right in the heart of Madrid.
The project
The uniqueness of this project lies in placing value in tradition and enhancing it with daring modernity, using contemporary and carefree designs. For this, the original façade was fully protected as a symbol of the architecture from the middle of the last century in one of the most traditional neighbourhoods around the Paseo de la Castellana.
As an aesthetic contrast, cutting-edge designs, remarkable attractiveness and suggestive decoration for the interior of the house was opted for. Also, the common areas of the building were also refurbished with a robotised parking, the redesign of the entrance hall and its different courtyards. Among these, the central courtyard stands out, in which the stairs and decorative stained-glass windows were kept in order to preserve their essence without losing their welcoming and differential atmosphere.
The materials
This ambitious project of seventeen houses located in the cultural and business centre in the capital, has designed each of its rooms with floor tiles and wall tiles from the PORCELANOSA Grupo. In the lower part of the complex there are spaces for family leisure and relaxation with a spa that has a jacuzzi, sauna, gym and steam room. There are also rooms for social events for friends to get together privately. This space has been designed with great care with materials such as: the Arizona Caliza ceramic floor tile by Porcelanosa, a green facade or the Neo Black through-body porcelain tile by Urbatek.
In the houses, we find a welcoming living room, luxury rooms with a bathroom, a dining room and natural wood floors leading to a kitchen equipped with the latest technology. The bathrooms are designed in a marbled Calacata Silver through-body porcelain tile, the Pietra Blue Stone ceramic wall tile; the framework of textures and shapes from the Arizona mosaic, the Bali Nieve stone wall tile and the Jersey Mix porcelain tile; all of them from Porcelanosa.
Finally, on the top two floors of the building there are three amazing penthouses, which offer spacious bedrooms and unique terraces with incredible views. Real luxury for living in the city.
