The multinational, Virgin, has selected an emblematic art deco style building in the Loop district of Chicago to establish its first hotel establishment. To convert the legendary Old Dearborn Bank Building into this luxurious 26 floor, 250 room hotel, those in charge of the project used the natural materials of PORCELANOSA Group, which have allowed them to achieve the exclusive and comfortable appearance desired.
The interior design work in the hotel has maintained the vintage essence of the building through small nods to early 20th century aesthetics such as the use of oak flooring, copper elevator doors and service lifts already present on each floor.
To implement the modern, urban personality which characterises Virgin, natural wood flooring by L’Antic Colonial has been installed in different rooms of the hotel.
Among the most notable results we find the floors of the exclusive Commons Club bar/lounge, where the patterned Classic Ebano natural parquet by L’Antic Colonial has been installed in a special format (48.26×7.62cm). This flooring revives the appearance of the traditional wood flooring of this historic building.
Materials by L’Antic Colonial have also been used in the rooms and bathrooms of the hotel, where the Wet Plus Roble Life flooring has been installed, with a special 17.78×119.38cm format; and, for wet areas, a combination of the special Retro Romo Blanco Craquele covering and the Retro Rojo covering have as been chosen with a special colour that reproduces the corporate colours of Virgin.
Virgin is in the process of expanding with its hotels and hopes to open a total of 20 hotels in the next 10 years, distributed among the main United States and European capitals, including New York and London.
