PORCELANOSA Group projects: Police station in Collado Villalba (Madrid)

The new metropolitan police station in the town of Collado Villalba in Madrid has recently opened its doors. It is a project by Roberto Yagüe Studio (Yagüe Architecture and City planning) where the architect has bet on the  PORCELANOSA Group building materials and systems.

The most remarkable feature in the police station is the outside of the building, the façade. One can find a combination of the Butech  ventilated façade and areas where the bonded façades have been the only choice. Some of the creases run along the skin of the building, infusing character in the volumetric of the construction.

A total of 1440 square metres form the ventilated façade of these modern services.  In order to get an elegant and long-lasting finishing touches, the architect Roberto Yagüe has chosen various models of the Ston-ker® ceramic stone by Porcelanosa to cover the ventilated façade  system by Butech. To be precise, the resistant Factory Moka, Natal Tabaco and Microcemento Gris porcelain tiles, all of them in a special 59x110cm format, which has made this combination perfectly possible.

As far as the bonded façade areas are concerned, the Max Black Nature model of technical plain porcelain by Urbatek has been used. The façade has been covered with 460 square metres in total and three different formats have been combined together, making use of 40x80cm, 25x80cm and 15x80cm pieces.

Trafficable terraces have been set up in the outside of the services with a Butech  exterior raised access flooring  which allows for the laying of the  ceramic flooring in order to get around the uneven ground in outdoor spaces by means of some plots which are adjustable by height, and are used for the ceramic tiles  to be rested on. In this case 140 square metres in a 59,6×54,8 cm format of the terrace raised access flooring have been covered with the Natal Tabaco Antislip porcelain tiles flooring by Porcelanosa. The same porcelain tile which has been used in the entrance hall of the Police station.
