Recently, MATSA (Minas de Aguas Teñidas, SAU), a mining company, has opened its new office building in the vicinity of the Mina de Aguas Teñidas mine in the province of Huelva. Belonging to the Trafigura Beheer BV group, MATSA is committed to long term sustainability through the constant modernisation of its activity and careful planning of mining production.In line with the company’s commitment to innovation and to minimising the environmental impact of its activity, Sevillan architect Manuel Sánchez Ordóñez, in collaboration with Grupo Abbsolute, has designed facilities with a minimalist, modern style focusing on energy efficiency through the installation of large windows which allow the building to make the most of natural light.Within this context, the project managers have used the high performance technical porcelain of PORCELANOSA Group, ideal for the flooring of high traffic surfaces due to its great durability. Thus, seeking to unite the different rooms of the building, a combination of different tones, formats and finishes were chosen from the Avenue collection by Urbatek for the floors of the reception, corridors, cafeterias and offices. Specifically, the project has used the full mass technical porcelain of the Avenue Grey Nature and Texture (60x60cm), Avenue White Nature (30x60cm) and Avenue Brown Texture (30×60 cm) models.The technical porcelain by Urbatek has also been installed as a covering in the building’s bathrooms, bringing a colourful touch that adds freshness to the austerity of the rest of the facilities, through the use of the Town Aqua and Town Rose models in Nature finish, both in 30x60cm format.MATSA is dedicated to the development and exploitation of the Aguas Teñidas mine and a mineral treatment plant with the capacity to process 2.2 tonnes of material each year. At more than 250km long, MATSA is a mining district whose activity dates back to the Phoenician period, over 2,500 years ago, and from which copper, zinc and lead, as well as significant quantities of silver are extracted. This is one of the only copper mines in Spain and, currently, the only active mine in the province of Huelva.
