We approached the creation of French designer Olivier Lapidus for Room Studio event, integrated into the framework of 2014 Equip’ Hotel exhibition. Beside him, recognized professionals Stella Cadente & Florian Claudel (who also counted on PORCELANOSA Group materials) and young talents such as Régis Botta, Céline Tuzzolino, Emmanuelle Gain and Laetitia Faburel, molded their personal vision in creating the perfect hotel room.
Olivier Lapidus designed his suite in collaboration with Elegance Hotels, a high-end hotel chain for which the French creator developed the Hotel Felicien’s project. In this case, Lapidus proposed a nocturnal atmosphere in which it predominates the sets of slides -glazed cabinets glimpse elegant clothes- and some really suggestive lighting.
For his bathroom suite, Lapidus has had the technical and aesthetical edge materials from PORCELANOSA Group firms to set up a space where the straight line is the undisputed queen. Therefore, Ras basins and Modul bathtub made in Krion® and combined with Noken’s Lounge taps star in this functional and minimalist bathroom; while Graphite finish Land Stone shower tray with Attica Systempool shower screen and the Noken Soft suspended sanitaryware complete the bathroom equipment of this suite defined by an urban luxury.
To frame the bathroom environment, the French creator chose the Urbatek’s XLight Emotion Dark ceramic wall tile which aroused much interest among visitors thanks to its textured finish and subtle glitter, combined with Fusion Flat Steel Mix and Victorian New York Coal Mirror metallic mosaics from L’Antic Colonial. For the floors, the Urbatek’s Town Cosmos Nature technical porcelain stoneware floor tile sobriety and resistance has been sought after.
The son of a prestigious couture fashion designer, Olivier Lapidus followed in the footsteps of his father and, after years of training and experience in the world of fashion design, that earned him the recognition as important as the Golden Thimble in 1994 (Le Dé d’Or de la Couture), the French creator made the leap into the world of interior design with the launch of a line of furniture for a French firm. Soon after, in 2013, he was responsible for design furniture and decoration Hotel Félicien (belonging to Elegance Hotels), project for which he featured materials from PORCELANOSA Group. Lapidus’ tie with the company has been strengthening, coming to take part in its VII Awards for Architecture and Interior Design as a juror.
