L’Antic Colonial Signature Spaces: Fran Silvestre

Today we are going to talk about the space designed by Fran Silvestre for the L’Antic Colonial showroom. The Valencia-based architect created three physically separated spaces that are connected by the same colour scheme.

Minimalism and the masterful use of light are the main features in this space by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos . The natural beauty of stone was enhanced, transforming the floorings and coverings into the main focus: Onix Calacatta, Onix Lagoa, Onix Etnia, Onix Botafogo, Port Monaco, Lercy, Pietra Grey, Versilys and Santuario.

All other elements were taken out of the equation to focus all our attention on the play of textures which combine three different finishes: polished, bushhammered and sandblasted to achieve up to ten different touches.

The architect also proposes lighting contrasts; changes in the colour of natural light are reflected on the walls whilst an artificial backlit light shines through a gap in the stone. This effect creates an intimate setting with golden rays, giving these natural stones a warm touch.

The meticulous execution of this space has enabled Fran Silvestre to create a timeless architectural concept which takes care of each and every detail; a feature which really characterises all of his projects in which you can also perceive the powerful influence of the Pritzker Awards and Álvaro Siza who was one of his mentors and a regular collaborator.
