In PORCELANOSA Group we enter the year with excellent news: For the second year running one of the Gamadecor kitchens has obtained the Good Design award for design excellence of the proposal. This time, the Evolution kitchen was given the Good Design 2014 award; organised every year by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, in collaboration with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
Conceived in a boast of mastery that merges noble materials with innovative technology, the Evolution kitchen represents another step towards the future: a compact island hides in its interior all the necessary kitchen appliances and storage spaces.
The great aesthetic beauty of the kitchen in its closed position forms a wide-open space where for comfortable work. By activating a button located on one side of the Evolution kitchen, the Krion® worktop moves to reveal the kitchen appliances, cupboards and drawers that are normally hidden in the single cube shape.
Regarding the finishes, the kitchen combines the beauty and hygiene of the Krion® mineral with the nobility of natural oak wood strips that cover the pieces of furniture, forming unique effects depending on the grain. To obtain a completely smooth surface, the kitchen is formed machined mitre joints and edges, that way achieving practically invisible joints, in addition to handle-free doors and drawers.
The Gamadecor Evolution kitchen was selected from among thousands of candidates coming from 48 countries that competed in this edition of the Good Design award, one of the most recognised industrial design programmes and oldest in the world, that prizes excellence in design since it was founded in Chicago in 1950.
You can consult the section dedicated to the Gamadecor Evolution kitchen, as well as the rest of winners, on the website of the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design at www.chi-athenaeum.org. Furthermore, all the awarded products and designs will be published in the Good Design Yearbook 2014-2015.
