VII Porcelanosa Awards. Future Projects Award: Patricia Torres Sánchez (CICE)

Patricia Torres Sánchez, student at the Escuela de formación en Nuevas Tecnologías in Madrid, was the winner of the Future Project in the seventh edition of the Architecture and Interior design Awards, in the student’s category, held each year by PORCELANOSA Group.

As stated in the competition rules, Patricia Torres has created a 600 square metre avant-garde showroom and sales area for the products and materials by the Group’s eight companies.

The author has used this concept to develop a building, using continuous stripes which form the outer skin, stamped in a lattice like manner to let natural light filter through. On the inside, the Krion® White stripes are modelled and curved forming different building elements and furniture pieces. Thus, the layout unites the different showroom areas of the eight companies belonging to PORCELANOSA Group.

The space is set out on two floors. The first floor is home to the showroom for bathrooms and all types of materials, as well as a small cafeteria for clients; whilst the upper floor is for kitchen furniture, management offices and a work area for interior designers and architects.

Among the other materials by PORCELANOSA Group which were a referenced for the design of this project are the decorative profiles by Butech, set at different points in the showroom and the Rhin Taupe porcelain flooring by Venis. Furthermore, the lines and the floor in the cafeteria and bar area were covered with Eden Camel natural hardwood by L’Antic Colonial, combined with Luxury Gold mosaics which cover the back splashes.
