The 2018 challenge: furniture design with Krion® Solid Surface
For this first edition, the participants must use the malleability and versatility of the compact mineral Krion® Solid Surface. It is a monolithic, latest generation stone, with a high mineral composition with which designer furniture must be created in four categories: kitchen units, outdoor furniture (garden, poolside, etc.), living room furniture and office furniture.
Nupami BD Ltd, a company founded in 2013 by partners in Bangladesh and Spain, becoming the exclusive partner of PORCELANOSA Group in the country, was in charge of presenting the compact mineral Krion® Solid Surface in Bangladesh in 2014. It was a turning point for the interior design and architecture sector in the country due to the multiple decorative and construction advantages offered by this mineral material.
Presentation of the competition
On the 10th of January, Álvaro de Salas, Spanish ambassador in Dhaka, led the competition event at the Six Seasons Hotel. At this event, the CEO of Nupami BD Ltd, Mr Aritz Izura, stated that interesting concepts from the most notable designers and architects of the country were expected.
Additionally, on behalf of the Institute of Architects, the Vice President of the Executive Board, Mr Jalal Ahmed, also expressed his enthusiasm for seeing how architects would face this challenge.
