A new and unique finalist architecture project at the 9th PORCELANOSA Group Awards, in the Completed Projects category: a single-family house located in Torre del Pinar, Garrapinillos, in Zaragoza.
Magén Arquitectos was the studio in charge of resuming an existing construction, a discontinued and abandoned site. Given the schematic clearness of the pre-existing volumetry, the aim was, apart from completing the project, to build intermediate spaces such as porches, pergolas, terraces or patios which connected both the interiors and exteriors, thus, providing the house with a higher unification. Therefore, several construction operations were carried out, such as the creation of square-format frame-windows facing the outside; the conception of visor-porches and curtain-lattices, the latter as a means of achieving light-filtering and view enhancement, as well as a support for the transition areas: porches, pergolas and terraces.
With regard to the interiors, wide open and clear spaces were outlined, all of them visually connected with the central patio. It is worth highlighting the excellent use of the materials and products by the PORCELANOSA Group, which not only reinforce that sober, fine and minimalist aesthetics, but also provide both their resistance and easy-to-maintain properties. In fact, in order to emphasise that aesthetic connection between the spaces and rooms in the house even more, Magén Arquitectos banked on the same porcelain tile in grey tones for the day areas, such as the staircases, kitchens and bathrooms. In other words, the choice was the Ródano Silver cement-inspired ceramic floor tile by Porcelanosa, which is complemented with a lighter version of the same range in the cellar flooring: Ródano Caliza. These ceramic models were used for the wall tiles, thus, providing the interior of the house with a slight industrial touch.
Furthermore, PORCELANOSA Group provides the bathroom design for this house with innovation by means of the Systempool and Noken equipment products. On one hand, the former is represented by a shower screen and a shower tray, whilst on the other hand, the latter is present in the taps, shower heads and bathroom accessories, from series such as Hotels, Urban or Quatro.
It is also worth highlighting the outstanding lounge design in this house which is in Zaragoza, and which offers a minimalist and practical interior design. We are dealing with a design which shows great spaciousness regarding the connection with the kitchen area, which is fully integrated into the space.
