An imposing clifftop villa overlooking the Atlantic, located in the north of the Spanish island. Meet Santa Úrsula, the building designed by architect José Delgado Lucas Gorrín, of studio Ideass in Tenerife, featuring interior and exterior cladding materials by Porcelanosa Group.
The villa is designed on several levels, and features living roofs, wooden platforms and floating stones; the fifth façade of this diaphanous, light-filled space with a distinctly minimalist aesthetic.
At the heart of the three interior levels at Santa Úrsula, the central atrium is where the true stars of this structure meet: three sculptural staircases that form the arteries connecting the social and private spaces.
The first, most public level of the new home sits atop the cliff, providing street-level access. The middle level houses the living areas and guests bedrooms, positioned around the terraces and main swimming pool, boasting a south-facing orientation and sensational views.
The lower level is reserved for the more private areas of the home: the bedrooms, a library, study and living room. Dual protagonists El Teide and the ocean preside over Santa Úrsula, a constant presence highlighted by the wide interior openings spread throughout each level with scant partitions.
The levels are connected by a lift, going from the upper platform down to a cave in the cliff, linked to a cantilevered outdoor swimming pool. The property’s second outdoor pool is located on the middle level in an attempt to dilute the boundaries between the indoor and outdoor spaces, a much coveted strategy for diaphanous homes.
The façade of Santa Úrsula is made entirely in the KRION® K·Life 1100 solid surface, installed with Butech’s K-FIX ventilated façade system. Alongside the façade, large glass partitions emphasise the penetrating blue of the sky and the sea. Part of the building envelope is made with XLIGHT large format porcelain tiles by Porcelanosa Group.
