In the very heart of Burgundy in Chablis, France, there is the Du Clos Hotel, a 4-star accommodation which was built in 1986, in a unique chapel from the twelfth century. A space that that is inspired by tradition, thanks to the work of Noemie, Christian and their team; a family legacy that continues day after day, offering a customised service through an extraordinary warm and welcoming atmosphere.
In order to offer guests a more complete and innovative service, a spa with massage and treatment services was added last April: “The Spa by les Clos“. A space in which the interior designer and decorator, Hannah Elizabeth Purssell, sought to recreate an atmosphere full of relaxation, as well as a unique wellness feeling.
The challenge was to design an appropriate atmosphere, keeping a warm and welcoming atmosphere according to the 4-star contiguous hotel. Therefore, respect for the architecture of the structure and the refined essence of the building was one of the first plans.
In fact, Hannah decides to get away from the “Scandinavian” trends and recreates an atmosphere inspired by nature and the vineyards in Chablis. An atmosphere where wood in its darker shades is the main attraction, as well as the designs of timeless character.
Relaxation in the vineyards
As if we were immersed in the heart of the vineyards in Chablis, the “Spa by les Clos” recreates a wellness atmosphere, thanks to the products from the PORCELANOSA Group. High quality materials, which are resistant to both moisture and the high traffic that this space endures.
For atmospheres with such characteristics, the warmth of the wood and the properties of the materials inspired by natural stone are ideal. For this reason, the designer uses the Par-Ker Oxford Cognac ceramic parquet and the Porcelanosa Arizona Caliza wall tile, which make a linear and fine composition.
Regarding the walls, the hotel banks on the Wood Cubes mosaic by L’Antic Colonial which is made of natural wood. Its cubic and geometric reliefs provide warmth and volumetrics while maintaining a unique natural effect. This visual contrast of colours and materials allows for the customer to be guided with delimited and highlighted spaces.
In the relaxation and massage room, elements with a strong contemporary style such as the Gravity mosaics by L’Antic Colonial can be found. Its hexagonal shapes denote dynamism through its matt look in relief. Lightness and elegance that blend perfectly with the bathrooms which incorporate the Chelsea taps, the Acro 50 basin and the Bela mixer by Noken.
Finally, the incorporation of the building systems by Butech was key, as they played a crucial role in improving the finishes and ensuring the correct installation of the different ceramic models used.
The Spa by the Clos, a warm and welcoming place that combines design and relaxation in the very heart of an impressive landscape.
