PORCELANOSA Group Projects: an outstanding design with KRION® at Bologna Airport

Bologna Airport, Italy, pays tribute to the Mediterranean Sea with the introduction of smart chromatic combination of white and navy blue in both the counter and boarding gate areas.

Thanks to the wide range of colours offered, the chosen material for coating walls and furniture in this airport area has been the KRION® Solid Surface compact mineral from PORCELANOSA Group in its original version, the 1100 Snow White as well as the 1704 Navy Blue finish.

Other features that led the Marco Colonnelli Studio to opt for the KRION® acrylic stone to carry out the Bologna airport redesign has been its thermocurvable power, the possibility to create imperceptible joints designs, its easy cleaning and antibacterial power without additives. The cutting-edge KRION® Solid Surface material is also suitable for installing in areas of high traffic, as it provides both great strength and durability.

SMIA has been the team responsible for transforming and manipulating KRION® so that it can be installed in the Italian airport’s boarding gates area. The navy blue and white fusion also creates a singular chromatic effect, recognizable and unique, different from what you can find at any other airport.

These facilities are known worldwide due to being called the most famous and illustrious bolognese name of all time, and it belongs to the electrical engineer and Nobel Award laureate, Guillermo Marconi. Bologna is also a reference city in the use of ceramics in both interior design and architecture through its international Cersaie contest. The exhibition is, year after year, a must-attend event for PORCELANOSA Group when the time comes to show the world both developments and trends.
