PORCELANOSA Group Projects: Iván Malagón *Clinic, Madrid

The prestigious dentist, Ivan Malagon chose the Girasol building in the exclusive Salamanca district in Madrid to set up his new dental clinic. To provide his new facilities with an innovative and differentiated design, in line with the philosophy that he applies to his professional practice, the dentist has counted on the Touza Architects team.

Inspired by nature and the human anatomy, Dr. Malagon’s Clinic is built around a central axis, as if it were a river, connecting it with the different semi-open rooms. The asymmetrical and broken shapes make the space flowing like, which has the same dynamism that the human body shows.

In line with the concept of dentistry as a source of harmony, naturalness and health which is required by the owner of the clinic, Touza Architects has prioritized in this project construction quality, energy efficiency and respect for the environment using LED lighting systems low consumption. But also with careful selection of building materials including some of the PORCELANOSA Group floor and wall tiles firms, they were able to meet the needs of use, maintenance and hygiene required in a project with these characteristics.

In creating the interior design of the clinic it has searched for the combination of soft tones like grey and champagne tones in order to get warm environments away from the prevailing white in hospitals.

Thus, to provide unity to the project, giving a sense of spatial continuity and ensuring better maintenance and hygiene for the clinic, it was installed as the only floor tile  with the large format (60×120 cm) Pure Brown Nature Urbatek through-body Porcelain from Urbatek. For the bathrooms wall tiles, the fresh and contemporary touch of Golden Glass mosaics of  L’Antic Colonial  has been sought after.

Additionally, with the aim of promoting the reduction of water consumption in the clinic, Julio Touza’s team have installed sanitaryware and bathroom taps from the Noken’s Arquitect collection allowing greater control of water resources.
