Cajaviva Caja Rural in Burgos updates its facilities with Porcelanosa collections

Working with studio MBG Ingeniería y Arquitectura S.L., the bank has redesigned its offices using some of the multinational's most sustainable pieces.

Cajaviva Caja Rural Burgos has renovated its offices with collections by PORCELANOSA Group based on a sustainable approach to architecture in which function is prioritised over form.

To raise awareness of the work the bank does amongst the people of Burgos, studio MBG Ingeniería y Arquitectura S.L. and Transformaciones Cántabras de Madera opted for bright, open spaces with white as the main theme. This can be seen in the façade, where two inclined squares accentuate the corporate logo, integrating the building into the city's historic architecture.

An open-plan space at the service of the public

The concept behind the work was to link the business environment with the public, and MBG architects' cutting-edge style has modernised how the 540 square metre space will be used, with large format panels by Krion® giving shape to the main structure.

Choosing the PORCELANOSA Group mineral compact was a response to the type of social architecture that seeks to improve people's lives with sustainability, comfort and safety as the main objectives. The facade is the perfect demonstration, where 350 square metres of Krion® Lux 1100 East has been installed, increasing the strength, hygiene and cleanliness of the building thanks to the material's imperceptible joints, zero porosity and bacteriostatic composition. The latter prevents the proliferation of fungi and bacteria, as well as offering environmental benefits to the city.

It runs through the building's interior too - housing the central offices of Cajaviva Caja Rural such as the function room, exhibition space and main offices - where the mineral compact has been incorporated into the geometric counters that frame the reception area, further enhancing the XTONE Aged Clay mineral compact, used as flooring throughout this area.

New-generation adhesives by Butech were used to ensure the correct installation of each piece, as well as their expansion profiles (Pro Dilata PVC) which improve the technical performance of XTONE flooring.

The Porcelanosa collections used for this project have updated not only the bank's corporate identity, but also the use of each space.

An open-plan design that unites the exterior and interior, making every space brighter. The meeting room is a prime example, with walls clad in an XTONE mineral compact that mimics black Marquina marble, contrasting beautifully with the natural wood flooring. "The renovation of Cajaviva Caja Rural's central offices responds to the brief of modern and comfortable - the offices hadn't been renovated since the former Caja Rural de Burgos was established over 40 years ago.
