Carles Faus’s minimalist architecture creates a new school in Dénia

This family home designed by the architect is open to the Mediterranean, linking the two levels with PORCELANOSA Group collections and the neutral interior décor of Pepe Cabrera.

With two interlinked levels forming an open cube, the Mirma House in Dénia (Alicante) is open to the Mediterranean via a symmetrical structure in white and grey. This is the characteristic style of Carles Faus Arquitectura, which combines minimalism with a Mediterranean style interior décor (the work of Pepe Cabrerausing Porcelanosa’s collections.

A home that converses with the sea

A defender of practical beauty and dialogue with nature, architect Carles Faus has connected the house’s two floors with the sea by means of large picture windows and open-plan spaces.

The inclusive design features XTONE the sintered mineral compact by Urbatek (cladding on the lower floor) which simulates the texture and veins of natural marble. It is also used inside the building for white flooring that lightens all the rooms.

The constant search for natural light has also influenced the core of the building, a sculptural staircase with a skylight above it, which welcomes us into the building and reinforces the connection between the upper and lower floors. On the upper floor are the two main bedrooms, where Cabrera’s décor, based on geometric lamps and functional black furniture, contrasts with XTONE flooring inspired by Carrara marble.

With a white bathroom adjacent to the main suite, this open room also features Forma bathroom fittings with  Tono taps by Foster+Partners and Noken, and a backlit Lounge mirror. In this light, spacious bathroom Krion® mineral compact is used to house bathroom fittings (Ras washbasin, Slim bath and Forma toilet) and define the overall structure, maximising hygiene and safety with its non-porous surface, imperceptible joins and bacteriological properties.

An industrial style kitchen with no boundaries

Facing outwards, with views of the sea, the apparently limitless open kitchen houses Emotions E6.70 Roble Bronce kitchen units by Gamadecor, XTONE worktops and Hotels taps by Noken.

Designed as a monolithic structure, the kitchen combines marble textures with metal lamps and the Metal Bronze 3D Cubes mosaic by L’AC. The collection comprises a series of matt-finish cubes which enhance the appearance of the space with their distinctive geometric design.
