PORCELANOSA Group gave an honorary award to the Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura for his professional career during the 7th Architecture and Interior Design Awards held on the 22nd May in Madrid.
He is the winner of the Pritzker Award, which is something like a Nobel Award for architecture, in 2011 and the Wolf Prize in 2013. Minimalism features in all his works and he is famous for creating architecture that improves the day to day lives of people.
This style has influenced design schools, thanks to this internationally renowned professional’s maturity. Just as the architect himself says “when I was younger, I worried about style and elegance and today I am more preoccupied with naturalness”. He believes that this quality can be considered as the answer to all types of situations.
His passion for naturalness can be perceived in his projects as he tries to minimise the environmental impact his works have on natural surroundings.
Some of his latest works are the Oporto subway, the local stadium of Braga and the Cultural centre of Viana do Castelo, in Portugal. In addition, he recently collaborated with PORCELANOSA Group in the design of one of the signature spaces for L’Antic Colonial showroom.
