The 12th Porcelanosa Awards Finalists: ‘Back to the Jungle’: the magic of the jungle and the ocean

The CICE student, Bárbara Aldasoro, has overseen this sustainable project.

The design is based on plastic-free food trade, which respects the marine ecosystem.

Bárbara Aldasoro Biencinto is the creator of the ‘Back to the Jungle’ project, a clear open space which is naturist, and which sees Porcelanosa materials used in a smart way to recreate the effects of nature. The student has been aware of the social concern for the environment, as well as the need to have it preserved. This has been her main source of inspiration to develop a nature-friendly project which enhances responsible consumption by putting forward a trade model based on the sale of plastic-free food.

The project design aims to bring the essence of the jungle to the city. Aldasoro has used the Sea Silver ceramic from Venis for the ceiling covering. Thanks to its metallic finish with undulations, it simulates the effect of sea waves. The objective is to remind all visitors about the need to protect the ecosystems which are in the sea and the ocean. Regarding the floor design, it combines matt materials such as the Xlight Bosco Grey from Urbatek and others that are bright from the same company, which create avant-garde-effect geometric elements.

Stone-effect materials from Urbatek like the Xlight Kala White mosaic are used on the walls, giving freshness to the space in the process. It is combined with the Xlight Liem Grey in an earth grey tone, which decks out the coverings of the vertical murals thanks to the crossing of its ramifying veining.

In relation to the bathroom furniture, products with curved lines that preserve the essence of nature have been chosen. ‘Back to the Jungle’ distances itself from ostentation by banking on materials which are geared towards future trends, preserving the essence that it is defined by, in other words, natural textures.

Integrated vegetation

This new plastic-free business concept uses materials which take visitors inside an elegant jungle. As well as that, banana leaves can be seen in key places inside the establishment, providing a touch of originality.

The design created by Bárbara Aldasoro has achieved in combining textures, colours and shapes, through an exclusive style. We are dealing with a project where client’s senses are stimulated through references to both the jungle and the ocean.
