The 11th Porcelanosa Awards: The Krion™ Solid Surface Coffee Cup Spot Bar structure

The essence of pure coffee and the social ritual which involves its consumption is the idea that has driven Antiprisma Design in the Coffee Cup - Spot Bar. Headed up by Ilaria La Manna, this project has achieved in becoming a finalist at the 11th Architecture and Interior Design Awards, organised by the PORCELANOSA Grupo.

Krion Solid Surface, impossible ideas brought to life

This temporary bar should have been easy to set up and move. Its almost weightless structure required a type of material like the Krion Solid Surface. A cutting-edge mineral compact whose easy handling and malleability allowed the creators to give free rein to their imagination. Its circular structure which has a pure and soft finish has an enormous bowl shape, functioning as a countertop and a workplace as well. The enormous coffee coloured column which is situated in the middle is similar to recently made coffee being poured into a cup.

The Krion™ mineral compact is made up of natural minerals and a low percentage of resins, which give it tremendous resistance, durability and few pores. Properties which turn it into the perfect solution for contract projects, since as well as allowing for a creative and original design, it can be used outdoors with its easy cleaning and maintenance. This is a hypoallergenic and antibacterial compound, so its application that goes beyond catering is also appropriate for any type of environment, where hygienic conditions are a priority.
