An international and multidisciplinary jury for the 13th Porcelanosa Awards

Adolfo Suárez, Alejandra Pombo, Antonio Maciá y Rhea Vaflor integran el tribunal experto que evaluará las propuestas presentadas en el concurso de Arquitectura.

The 13th Porcelanosa Awards now have an official jury. La multinacional española ha incluido al arquitecto Adolfo Suárez, a la interiorista Alejandra Pombo, al arquitecto Antonio Maciá y a la directora asociada de Hickok Cole (Washington, EEUU), Rhea Vaflor, en el tribunal encargado de examinar los proyectos presentados en las categorías Diseño de Futuro y Diseño del Año.

The first category is intended for professionals and students from all design schools and universities who submit the most realistic proposals for designing a presidential hotel suite (also included are those from the last 2020 edition).
The second category recognises the architectural and constructive value of all those projects carried out with PORCELANOSA Group materials between January 2019 and February 2022 (for more information, please consult the published rules of the 13th Porcelanosa Awards).
The jury for the 13th Porcelanosa Awards will be made up of:

Adolfo Suárez (Lombardini22)

Graduate of Architecture and Architectural Engineering from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Valladolid in 1991, Suárez is a founding partner of Lombardini22, one of Milan’s most prominent architecture studios. With extensive experience managing complex multidisciplinary teams, standout moments of his career to date include designing retail and residential buildings with high added value. In recent years, he has moved towards urban regeneration and the creation of mixed-use spaces.

Alejandra Pombo (Alejandra Pombo Estudio de Interiorismo)

Trained at the Pascua Ortega interior design school, the renowned interior designer now with her own brand (Alejandra Pombo Estudio de Interiorismo) seeks to blend into each project to create unique spaces full of her own identity. With three specific design areas: Restaurants, Hotels and Homes, her sophisticated taste for volumes, natural textures and neutral colours has established her as one of the country’s leading interior designers.
Large national restaurant chains, such as Grupo Paraguas, Grupo La Ancha, Grupo Azotea and Grupo Lateral, have placed their trust in her company, as have international restaurant chains: La Única Group and Fayer Group. She has also designed hotel interiors for Vincci Hoteles, Kaizen Hoteles and Can Tres Formentera.

Antonio Maciá (World of Holistic Architecture)

Graduate in architecture from the Universitat Politècnica de València, professor at the University of Alicante Polytechnic School and director of the Institutional Chair of Sustainable Architecture for the Department of Housing GVA-UA, during his long career Maciá has championed constructive harmony and natural materials for integrating every architectural work into the landscape.

Winner of the First Prize in the Public Competition for the Artistic Research Centre at the Altea Campus of Miguel Hernández University (UMH) alongside Salvador Lara (2019) and the First Prize in the Public Competition for the new multi-purpose building of the UMH (2018), he currently heads the multidisciplinary team of World of Holistic Architecture (WOHA)
, which he founded.

Rhea Vaflor (Hickok Cole)

Interior designer and AIA award-winner, she is currently associate director of the architecture studio Hickok Cole (Washington, USA).
Her extensive and prestigious academic background (Specialist in Institutional Relations, Political Science with a Master’s in Interior Design and Master’s in International Development from the George Washington University) together with her outstanding management career, have made her one of the most influential executives in contemporary architecture and interior design.

Venue and official sponsors

The 13th Porcelanosa Awards will be held on 26 May at the Four Seasons Hotel in Madrid and they will be attended by renowned architects, designers and various personalities from the business and financial sector. The event is officially sponsored by Banco Santander, with the collaboration of the consultancy firm Deloitte and the insurance company Catalana Occidente.
