Finalists of the VI Porcelanosa Awards: La Esencia

Miguel Ángel Parra Viedma and Cristina Fernández García, students at the art school in Almería (Spain), is responsible for this project which was presented in the sixth edition of the Architecture and Interior Design awards held by PORCELANOSA Group. The natural shapes of wood cuts inspired “La Esencia” project. The boundaries of the interior and exterior of this restaurant are not clear, therefore achieving continuity that integrates the architectural element to the surroundings.Besides being a restaurant, la Esencia has breath taking views of the sea. This is the reason why the communication between the interior and exterior is so important. The author achieved this effect by creating joining spaces between the different environments which can have different uses. The selection of materials defines the different areas in the restaurant. Wood was used to create a warmer environment in the dining area, which contrasts with the Krion® bar that practically wraps around the entire restaurant and shapes the central kitchen area.Another feature that helps this Project merge with the natural surroundings is the choice of materials and products that respect the environment such as the recyclable compact mineral Krion®, the ceramic floorings by Porcelanosa and Venis and the mixer taps with ecological systems by Noken, which are used to control the use of water.
