Dress your Christmas table with interior designer Pía Capdevila and Porcelanosa

A palette of reds, greens and golds dominates in festive decor, forming the backdrop of celebrations with family and friends

All the best memories are made around the table; and at Christmas, all the more so. At this time of year, classic, Nordic, traditional and nature-inspired designs reign supreme. For this table dressing, interior designers Pía Capdevila and Mar Gausachs wanted to reflect the biophilic trend (increasing connectivity with nature) through the tableware and ornamental details.

How to decorate your Christmas table

The concept of capturing nature starts from the foundation: a traditional English green tablecloth. Opting for a white and gold Christmas theme, Capdevila and Gausachs recommend using red charger plates to elevate the crockery - in white edged with gold, and gold-toned cutlery. The sparkly elements perfectly reflect the festive tone of Christmas.

Two different glass designs have been used to suit the style of the table. The cut glass breaks with the classic style, lending greater prominence to the tableware.

The interior designers opted for a table centrepiece to power up the nature-inspired decor scheme. It features woven eucalyptus branches punctuated by black grapes, giving the ornamental piece a dreamy edge. For a beautifully lit dining experience, they opted for red candles nestled in green and gold candelabras. The different heights evoke the forest theme perfectly (they advise using two or three candelabras, depending on the number of guests and table size).

And lastly, the napkins. Always go for fabric napkins. The way you style them depends on the look you're trying to achieve. Capdevila and Gausachs adorned them with a central knot, adding a decorative eucalyptus leaf.

These simple decor tips are all you need to give your gatherings with family and friends a special, incredibly homely ambience.
