White, grey and beige have become the greatest ally of today’s interior design, because of their versatility and lightness.
Neutral colours such as white, beige, ivory, brown, grey and black blend perfectly into minimalist or Scandinavian style interiors and their choice influences home design and the layout of each room.
The main advantage of neutral tones is that they can be combined with other, more vivid colours and allow natural materials and textures to be combined with others which have been processed. For example, pottery can be combined with wood, linen with stone or metal with wickerwork.
Neutral colours make spaces lighter and contribute to the image of cleanliness and hygiene in bathrooms, kitchens and terraces.
Before selecting the colour palette that you will use in your home, we recommend you to design a mood board with the different colour combinations that you want to apply, according to the interior design you choose.
To design a neutral lounge, you can combine light silky textiles, such as velvet or satin, with colours such as grey or white. Natural stone floors or STON-KER ceramic stone from Porcelanosa and Venis can be the perfect complement to this mix & match process.
Another option is to blend white with wood. Porcelanosa’s Par-ker ceramic parquet and Starwood ceramic wood will increase the warmth and resilience of a lounge with a more rustic touch.
For living rooms, we recommend white, beige and brown. These three colours will enhance spaces with natural or ceramic wood and they can be combined with corrugated or sandy finishes.
Neutral décor for the bedroom can include white walls and floors, light linen and cotton textiles, white lacquered furniture or bed headboards made of the compact mineral Fitwall™ by Krion. This Solid Surface is very resistant to high temperatures, bending and solar radiation, while its non-porous surface is very easy to clean.
Gamadecor kitchens such as the Wabi E9.30 XLight Bottega Caliza Silk E2.65 Sugi Black Sugi Te feature beige as the predominant colour. The same is true of the compact sintered mineral XTONE, which takes its inspiration from the textures and brilliance of Carrara marble.
All white minimalism or black and white structures can give the bathroom a more original and authentic air. If you prefer a touch of colour in the bathroom, Noken allows you to customise washbasins, toilets and shower trays in any of the colours in the RAL range.
Neutral colours are considered to be those with a low level of saturation or intensity. This definition would include white, black and grey. Earthy, brown and metallic colours can also be considered neutral.
Neutral colours can be combined with any tone, whether bright (yellow, orange, green or red) or more subdued.
Warm neutral tones such as mole grey and grey, black and cream, brown and cream, gold and cream, beige with a touch of red, and cream and ivory are among the most popular choices in interior design today.
