Carlos Valverde will be on the jury at the 12th PORCELANOSA Grupo Architecture&Design Awards

This Mexican architect has put his seal on a large number of skyscrapers in New York, like Towers 3 and 4, located in the new World Trade Center.

His career has led him to winning the ‘Innovator 2014’ award at the Walk of Fame in Tijuana.

He designed the space as a whole: Infinite, global and unique. Under these three values, Carlos Valverde (Tijuana, 1984) erected each one of his vast buildings. Both his vision and his experience will be invaluable to the jury at the 12th PORCELANOSA Grupo Architecture&Design Awards.

After studying architecture at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, he moved to Germany to specialise in urban planning.

That knowledge would later take him to New York City in 2007. There, he began to collaborate with the architectural firm, Ryall Porter Sheridan Architects, where he was able to materialise everything he had learned so far.

That experience took him to Silverstein Properties, the investment and real estate development firm in New York where he acts as vice president. With this company, he has carried out: Towers 3 and 4 from the new World Trade Center; with 70 and 80 floors respectively. He has also taken part in the construction of the Silver Towers and the international financial district in Shenhen, China.

The endless New York sky

Valverde plans to provide 72 floors for project 4 from the World Trade Center and 80 floors for project 3 in the reconstruction work which began in the area after the 9/11 attack. The most representative of this complex is the Freedom Tower, the tallest skyscraper in the Western World and the sixth largest in the world.

His architectural projects are linked to the social initiatives in which he takes part, namely: helping Mexican immigrants who arrive in the United States. Work carried out by the Mixteca Organization, a non-profit organisation which makes the integration of all Mexicans easier through social, educational, health and cultural programs.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Mexican Professionals and Entrepreneurs in New York; his commitment to his fellow countrymen led him to winning the ‘Innovator 2014’ award at the Walk of Fame in Tijuana, Mexico.
