Porcelanosa’s participation in the renovation of Real Madrid’s stadium is an example of the close relationship between the two institutions. A collaboration that began last October with the signing of a agreement to promote both brands.
The Bernabéu is much more than a soccer stadium. It is an emblem of Real Madrid, steeped in history, which has undergone an unprecedented transformation. This project has transcended sport and has become an architectural and cultural reference in which PORCELANOSA Grupo has collaborated to provide the space with exclusive designs with innovative materials.
The Bernabéu is a symbol of Madrid and one of the most visited monuments by national and international tourists in the capital. Therefore, when its renovation was proposed, it had to respond to the needs of a multifunctional 21st century venue and to the diversification of uses that the facility could accommodate. A proposal that includes areas for the best gastronomy, shows, corporate events and, of course, the highest level of sport.
The architectural project, led by GMP INTERNATIONAL GMBH, L35 Architects and Ribas & Ribas, has successfully integrated the stadium into the urban environment. The new avant-garde façade represents a key element in the public space, transforming the perception of the white coliseum. In the words of the managing director of L35 Architects, Tristán López Chicheri, “Real Madrid’s new approach to the expansion of the stadium’s uses was a perfect fit with our vision for urban stadiums.
High-level construction companies such as Grupo Savills, Construicía, 4 Retail, Proyecta y Consultores de Proyectos y Obras, Desarrolla, Acciona Cultura, Liñagar and FCC Construcción have participated in the remodeling. All of them have been in charge of bringing the interiors of the new Bernabéu to life. For its part, PORCELANOSA Grupo, which maintains close collaboration ties with Real Madrid, has provided high definition technological materials for different areas of the new stadium, such as the VIP areas, restaurants, changing rooms, bathrooms, stands and preferential access. In addition, as an official partner of Real Madrid, PORCELANOSA Grupo reinforces its commitment to share events and projects in the social and professional fields which go beyond soccer.
PORCELANOSA Grupo’s choice of materials for the Bernabéu stadium shows the firm’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. For example, the Krion® K-Life 1100 mineral compact has been used in the changing rooms, allowing for customized designs that reflect the team’s identity and transmit the passion for sports.
In high-traffic areas, such as corridors and passageways, Porcelanosa’s Vela large-format porcelain tile achieves a visual continuity effect by reducing the number of joints. A product that meets the technical requirements of the space thanks to Butech’s installation materials and construction solutions. This area is completed with Krion Fitwall Rolling White Sand Vertical cladding in one of the accesses.
Another highlight is the ceramic wood PAR-KER®, used in the boxes. This flooring, combined with the stairs made of Krion® K-Life 1100, provides warmth and elegance, creating a sophisticated atmosphere. The perfect atmosphere to enjoy the best moments of sports and leisure.
The VIP area bar is a combination of wood and Krion® K-Life 1100. An exclusive design that highlights the versatility of this solid surface, integrating elements such as the backlit Real Madrid shield.
Finally, the bathrooms have also been designed, taking care of the smallest detail, incorporating countertops and sinks made with Krion® K-Life 1100 and using Noken taps. These spaces offer a modern and functional aesthetic, with high quality finishes that are very easy to maintain.
With this transformation, the Bernabéu Stadium consolidates itself as an economic, social and cultural engine for Madrid. Its presence in the city’s skyline makes it an iconic meeting point and a benchmark in which PORCELANOSA Grupo wants to and will be present. In addition to representing the passion for sport, the new Bernabéu is an example of how architecture and design can transform the way we live our experiences.
With this new concept, the Bernabéu is positioned as a pioneering stadium in terms of technology and architectural innovation, without forgetting its unavoidable commitment to society and the environment. Its identity goes far beyond that of a sports stadium; it is a destination in itself, and all of this with the highest quality and excellence, the indisputable hallmarks of Real Madrid.
Bernabéu is an infinite destination.
