9th PORCELANOSA Group Awards Jury: Scott Ziegler, Ziegler Cooper Architects

Our review of the PORCELANOSA Group 9th Awards jurors continues with Scott Ziegler, founder of the renowned architectural and design Ziegler Cooper Architects studio.

Ziegler graduated from Rice University with a master’s degree in architecture, and also holds a degree in business administration from Trinity University.

In 1977 he founded in Houston, Texas, his company, Ziegler Cooper Architects, basing his work on the realization of buildings that, being a source of inspiration and advocating for functionality and sustainability, proving an asset value for their owners. Both his approach and way of thinking about architecture ensure respect regarding the context in which the projects are located, as well as retaining their historical tradition and connection directly with the client’s vision.

As the director of the residential urban study, Scott plays a very active role in the urban landscape set up. A theme around which he writes periodic publications in specialized media. There, he deals with strategies for sustainable urban growth as well as those related to mixed use and high density architecture. His experience and background in the residential urban sector have led to contact with leading companies in that field such as Hines; Hines; Gables Residential Trust; General Investment and Development; Hanover companies; Candem REIT; Trammel Crow Residential Dinerstein Companies and Forest City. He has worked closely together with them in order to design low, medium high and high scale building projects. After ambitious investments with regard to the study and development of projects, Scott Ziegler offers his expertise in relation to density studies; demography; interior design and vision for future trends in design.

As an opinion leader in urban planning, Scott Ziegler also conducts lectures and presentations in various institutions, including Rice University; the Urban Land Institute; or the Texas Society of Architects.

Ziegler will be a juror, together with Julio Touza, Ramón Esteve, Ariane Steinbeck and Jean Jacques Ory at the 9th Porcelanosa Awards, all of whom will assess the best projects in the Future Projects and Completed Projects’ categories.
