Ventilated façades

PORCELANOSA Grupo carries out constant research into the development of high-tech ventilated façade systems, today considered to be the most efficient, safest form of exterior cladding.

Ventilated façades ensure high energy savings for buildings of up to 20 or 30%. In addition, their multilayer improve on buildings’ sound insulation, a factor of major importance in cities with high noise levels.

Rainscreen wall tile advantages

Thanks to the multilayer structure type cladding system, this façades system provides maximum protection with regard to exteriors. The inner layers reduce energy loss, whereas the surface layer, which is the one visible from the outside works as a barrier against the rain, wind and sunlight, among other factors.

The amount of water which may reach the façade’s inner layers is low, therefore the possibility of filtrations and humidity is reduced to a great extent, since 98% of the water drains away on the surface layer. As well as that, the air passage between both layers helps to constantly keep the cavity dry and well ventilated, too. An alternative which not only provides proper drainage, but also good ventilation and a thermal solution.

The installation system minimizes execution times, and ventilated façades only require minimal maintenance. In addition, broken tiles can easily be replaced with no need for building work.

Meeting the demands of any type of application

Butech’s technical department designs ventilated façades that incorporate some of Porcelanosa’s most resistant tile models, like STON-KER®, an exclusive material with a resistance to meteorological agents that makes it perfect for use as outdoor cladding.

The PORCELANOSA Grupo offers four wide ranges of materials with which these types of façades can be planned the rainscreen cladding: porcelain panels, XLIGHT extra-slim ceramic panels, natural stone panels and the KRION® Solid Surface mineral compact. A big array of options, formats, finishes and textures, as well as building solutions for installations in any type of project.

Rainscreen systems Characteristics

Porcelain panels

  • Waterproof (low water absorption).
  • Low thermal coefficient – Refraction.
  • Resistant to the freezing cycles and thermal shocks.
  • Resistant to scratching and abrasion.
  • Resistant to chemicals: acid, cleaning products, pollution, painting.
  • Zero maintenance.
  • Easy replacement.
  • Wide range of colours, finishes and textures.

XLIGHT panels

  • Extra slim (3.5mm).
  • Large format (300 cm x 100 cm).
  • Lightweight (8kg/m²).
  • Zero water absorption.
  • Resistant to weather conditions.
  • Fibreglass reinforcing mesh.
  • Resistant to bending.
  • Wide range of colours, finishes and textures.

KRION® ventilated façades

  • Solid, uniform and zero-porosity mineral compact.
  • Hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial properties.
  • Malleable.
  • Restorative properties.
  • Resistant to thermal shocks.
  • Fireproof.
  • Backlighting is possible.
  • Similar texture to natural stone.
  • Wide range of colours.

Natural stone panels

  • Natural product, there are no two natural stones which are alike.
  • Timeless material.
  • Elegant, versatile; meeting the demands of different spaces.
  • SLATE: undergoes temperature changes, the sun and the rain. High resistance to external agents.
  • SANDSTONE: Anti-slip properties and resistance to external agents.
  • LIMESTONE: High resistance.
  • MARBLE: Open to lots of customisation and finish levels.
