This statement sets out Porcelanosa UK Ltd's actions to understand all potential modern slavery risks related to its business and to put in place steps that are aimed at ensuring that there is no slavery or human trafficking in its own business and/or within its supply chains.

Organisational structure and supply chains

As part of the manufacturing and distribution sector, the organisation recognises that it has a responsibility to take a robust approach to slavery and human trafficking. The organisation is absolutely committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in its corporate activities, and to ensuring that its supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking.

PORCELANOSA GRUPO, A.I.E. is a global manufacturer and retailer, offering furniture, kitchen and bath items, with over 400 stores in 80 countries. Production diversification has played a key role in the growth of a business group that started off with the production of a single product: ceramic tiles.

Today, the Group’s companies offer a wide product range that includes kitchen and bathroom equipment as well as state-of-the-art building solutions for contemporary architecture.

Our supply chain

Our supply chain includes:

Factory employees – based in Vila-real, Castellon, Spain. Our factory workers enjoy workers’ rights, and fair treatment, as outlined in our Code of Practice.

Purchasing - within each company, a purchasing team are responsible for ensuring what products are held within “stock” and which of our extensive range is held within our production factories. Purchasing teams are based at the same location as the companies Head office, or within Headquarters (Vila-real, Castellon, Spain).

Suppliers - where suppliers are used to manufacture and or procure goods used within our product range, we ensure these suppliers are ethical. We now monitoring their compliance to our Code of Conduct.

Auditors – based within our Headquarters, our internal auditors, in addition to our Compliance team monitors suppliers’ compliance with our Code of Conduct. All new suppliers are required to sign our Code of Conduct. We are working towards having existing suppliers also agree to the Code of Conduct, ensuring any renewal of relationship is subject to the suppliers agreement of these terms.

Our policies on slavery and human trafficking

We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Our Anti-slavery Policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains. Due diligence processes for slavery and human trafficking

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk we follow the “The Code of Conduct for Manufacturers, Suppliers, Distributors and Employees of the Porcelanosa Group” (hereinafter the Code). This document defines the minimum standards of ethical and responsible behaviour that must be observed by all the manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of products marketed by Spanish and foreign companies making up the Porcelanosa Group (hereinafter the Porcelanosa Group) as well as by the employees of the Porcelanosa Group in the pursuit of their activities, in accordance with the business culture of the Porcelanosa Group, firmly established on respect for human rights and workers’ rights.

We have in place systems to:

  • Identify and assess potential risk areas in our supply chains.
  • Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains.
  • Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains.
  • Protect whistle blowers.

Relevant policies

The organisation operates the following policies that describe its approach to the identification of modern slavery risks and steps to be taken to prevent slavery and human trafficking in its operations:

  • Whistleblowing policy The organisation encourages all its workers, customers and other business partners to report any concerns related to the direct activities, or the supply chains of, the organisation. This includes any circumstances that may give rise to an enhanced risk of slavery or human trafficking.
  • “Code of conduct” The organisation's code makes clear to employees the actions and behaviour expected of them when representing the organisation.
  • The organisation strives to maintain the highest standards of employee conduct and ethical behaviour when operating abroad and managing its supply chain.
  • Supplier (code of conduct) The organisation is committed to ensuring that its suppliers adhere to the highest standards of ethics.
  • Suppliers are now required to demonstrate that they provide safe working conditions where necessary, treat workers with dignity and respect, and act ethically and within the law in their use of labour.

The organisation works with suppliers to ensure that they meet the standards of the code and improve their worker's working conditions. However, serious violations of the organisation's supplier code of conduct will lead to the termination of the business relationship.

Training

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we have commenced a training regime in order to provide training to our staff.

Our effectiveness in combating slavery and human trafficking

The Monitoring and Compliance Committee, and an Internal Communication and Whistleblowing policy support the business to ensure compliance with the present Code of Conduct for Manufacturers, Suppliers, Distributors and Employees.

The Monitoring and Compliance Committee may act on its own initiative or at the request of any manufacturer, supplier, distributor or third party with a direct relation to the matter and a legitimate commercial or professional interest, by means of a formal report made in good faith.

For this purpose, all notifications made under the present Code, whether containing reports of breaches or queries relating to the interpretation or application of the Code, may be sent to the Porcelanosa Group through either of the following means:

Performance indicators

To verify there is no slavery or trafficking within our organisation, we ensure compliance with European regulations.

Examples of this include not hiring children under 16 to prevent child labour both within our companies and the within companies that supply us products or services – even where the countries own laws do not prohibit such actions as hiring/engaging of child labour, abuse, harassment and inhumane treatment of employees of companies belonging to the Porcelanosa Group.

We ensure compliance through performing periodic audits and checks to verify compliance with the Porcelanosa Group Code of Conduct.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our Group's slavery and human trafficking statement.
