Porcelanosa has developed Nanoker technology to manufacture anti-slip versions of all its ceramic flooring collections. This system makes it possible to create a nano-structured surface with a uniform texture on the surface of the tiles, very different from the rough texture found in conventional finishes.
The design of a nano-structured anti-slip surface was possible due to collaboration between PORCELANOSA Group and the Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica (Institute of Ceramic Technology), a world leader in the field of research into and innovation in ceramic. The result is an anti-slip surface with a smooth and agreeable texture that is long-lasting and requires little maintenance.
In contrast with other processes used to achieve anti-slip surfaces, Nanoker technology retains the original colour tones of the tile and does not whiten its appearance like many other anti-slip finishes available in the market. This means that it can be perfectly combined with the base tile to create spaces with homogeneous finishes.
Nanoker technology also provides longer-lasting anti-slip properties because it does not rely on an emphasised relief on the tile surface, meaning that the original standards of safety can be retained for longer. Furthermore, it requires little maintenance: the system achieves results that are resistant to chemical agents and impacts, and it is also easy to clean thanks to the microscopic roughness of the surface.
